Who are we looking for?

InviXible is on a journey to build an exceptional team of world class talent to build future-proof cutting edge technology. We are looking for a DevOps Engineer - IoT based in Pakistan to become a part of a highly passionate technical team that is developing world class IoT products and solutions for our global customers. We are looking for an expert & problem solver who has a deep and hands on experience with DevOps tools, pipelines, automation, and software engineering within an agile environment. We are looking for someone who is ready to dive into complex new technologies and depth of code & scripts and produce an elegant and well-architected outcome. A minimum of 3 years of experience architecting, implementing and maintaining DevOps practices is a must.

What can you expect in this role?

The role is varied in scope and technology reporting directly into the Head of IoT Products and Solutions based in UK. You will join our world class team of problem solvers and forward thinkers, actively participating in brain storming exercises and rapidly coming up with solutions and designs. You will draw and document these designs and ideas like seasoned architects and present them to concerned stakeholders.

You will play a pivotal role in invixible’s software delivery and operations workstreams, setting up a state of the art DevOps function that will deliver and support our innovative IoT products and solutions. You will work on main cloud hyper-scalers particularly AWS but will even facilitate on-prem deployments from time to time keeping our products agnostic of such platforms like they currently are.

You will be expected to fully understand the Software Development Lifecycle, especially in a Scrum based agile environment and bring comprehensive knowledge of different automation tools. You will automate any possible process, system or flow and keep evolving it to work efficiently and independently. You will work in collaboration with the products and solutions development team, taking the lead on code releases and eventual monitoring and support thereafter. You will not only regularly setup new infrastructure but also perform config management, migrations, and release management.

You will be expected to become a strong team player with very strong communication and social skills to manage all stakeholders and get things done. Due to the global nature of this role, this role requires professional or near-native proficiency in English language in all disciplines.

Following will be your key responsibilities

• Deployment, configuration, automation, management, and maintenance of cloud-based or on-premises systems. Implement segregated environments pertaining to development, testing, staging and production.
• Own code releases of existing product and solutions
• Implement, maintain and optimize automated CI/CD pipelines while ensuring testing and validation is key part of them
• Ensure availability, performance, security, and scalability of production systems.
• Apply security by design mindset, continuously assessing processes and systems against new threats, best practices and universally defined standards (OWASP, SOC, ISO).
• Educate stakeholders and enforce security, privacy and auditability controls
• Articulate, own and evolve the Devops roadmap including release management strategies, adopting emerging tools and platforms
• Evaluation of new technology alternatives and vendor products as well as adhoc assessments for customer proposals. Regularly provide recommendations for architecture and process improvements.
• Optimize the operational costs of DevOps environments.
• Create and automate a robust monitoring setup
• Rapidly investigate, troubleshooting and resolve issues arising across various application domains and platforms.
• Definition and deployment of systems for metrics, logging, and monitoring on DevOps platform.
• Designing, maintenance and management of tools for automation of different operational processes.

Technical requirements

• Certified DevOps accreditation, preferably, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer
• Experience in code development in at least one major high-level programming language.
• Knowledge of operating system administration and full command on Unix, Linux, with knowledge of typical to advanced commands.
• Ability to develop & run scripts and utilities under Linux, Unix and Windows cloud and on-premises environments
• Experience in creation of highly automated infrastructures in cloud and on-premises.
• Comprehensive knowledge in contemporary processes and methodologies for development and operations.
• Strong grasp of DevOps life cycle from Plan, Build, CI/CD, Monitor, Operate & Continuous feedback  
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience with DevOps tools, such as, Git, Jenkin, Jira, Confluence.
• At least 3 years of hand-on experience with containerization and orchestration tools, such as, Docker, Kubernetes etc.
• AWS tools and concepts like EC2, EKS, Amplify, S3, Fargate, lambda functions, CloudWatch etc.
• Knowledge of postman, Grafana, Prometheus, Cloudwatch and an ideal knowledge of zoo keeper e.g. to monitor infrastructure and services
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and deploying and scaling them using containers, load balancers and clustering
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, such as, CloudFormation, Ansible, Puppet, Chef etc. but most crucially in Terraform
• Strong understanding of Scrum based agile development life cycle
